Our Pumpkin Glyphs

We did pumpkin art and graphed the results. We are getting better at comparing our results and adding a "So what" sentence to show that our questions can be useful in planning our next steps! We enjoyed creating them!

  1. Hi Friends! Your pumpkin glyphs are wonderful and informative! We can see that you collected very important data, and that helped us learn more about you. Now we know that most of you liked "The Big Pumpkin" story, but some liked "The Stubborn Pumpkin". Are you going to act out "The Big Pumpkin" now? We are going to ask our librarian if she has either of those books for us to read. We are going to make turkey glyphs in a few weeks. We will let you know how many Kind Kids like pumpkin pie. Maybe it will be the same as all of you! We love the way you looked at all of your data. What accomplished mathematicians you are! We really like following your learning adventures!

  2. Dear Kind Kids,
Thank you for your thoughtful words. We can't wait to see your turkey glyphs and compare our data about pumpkin pie. We acted out the story, "The Big Pumpkin" and we did a wonderful job. We liked pretending to pull the pumpkin. We pretended we were a witch, a tiny bat, a vampire, a ghost, and a mummy. Do you celebrate Halloween and do you go trick-or-treating?

    1. Hello Friends,
Yes, we do celebrate Halloween! Many of the Kind Kids go trick-or-treating. We have a carnival at school. There will be 14 stations, including reading, math, science, and art activities. We get to go to the carnival in the gym with 3 other 1st grade classes. Our school has nine 1st grades and 8 kindergarten classes! What a great play, "The Big Pumpkin", must have been!
